A troubling incident occurred aboard an Air India Express flight from Dubai to Jaipur on Saturday, where a male passenger allegedly misbehaved with a woman cabin crew member while under the influence of alcohol, according to a report by news agency ANI.
The incident came to light after the crew lodged a formal complaint following the flight’s arrival at Jaipur International Airport. Sources confirm that the airline promptly informed airport authorities, leading to the registration of an FIR. An investigation is now underway.
“The airline has submitted a formal complaint. The matter is under investigation by the relevant authorities,” a source familiar with the case said. However, further details regarding the identity of the accused or the nature of the misconduct have not yet been disclosed.
Another Mid-Air Altercation on Air India Flight
On the same day, a separate incident unfolded aboard Air India flight AI454 from Amritsar to Delhi. A verbal altercation broke out between two passengers during the aircraft’s descent, prompting immediate intervention by cabin crew.
According to Air India, the cabin crew spotted one passenger arguing in the aisle. The other passenger accused him of abusive behavior, following which the crew relocated the affected individual to a business-class seat to ensure a safe and peaceful landing.
Upon landing at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, the airline’s security team, already alerted by the pilot-in-command, was prepared to handle the situation. The disruptive passenger was promptly handed over to airport security for further questioning.
“Following a complaint by the second passenger, the pilot-in-command notified our ground security team. The disruptive passenger was handed over to airport authorities for further investigation,” an official statement from the airline said.
DGCA Guidelines on Unruly Passengers
India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has laid down strict guidelines for managing unruly passenger behavior. Airlines are required to investigate such cases through an internal committee and take appropriate action, which may include blacklisting the offending individual from future flights.
These back-to-back incidents have highlighted the growing concern over in-flight passenger misconduct and underscore the need for strict enforcement of air safety protocols.
